Big Brands Already Making Their Mark In The Metaverse

The Metaverse. You know about it. You read about it. But you’re still not sold on it? Perhaps these major brands will show you how virtual worlds, NFTs and immersive experiences are reaching a whole new generation of consumers in the metaverse.

Big brands in the metaverse

Brands like Warner Bros., Hyundai and Gucci for example, have built their own virtual worlds.

In May 2021, gaming platform Roblox hosted the Gucci Garden, an art installation aimed at building brand awareness among young customers. A virtual recreation of a real-world installation in Florence, Gucci sought to tell its story ahead of its centenary.

Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch and Crockpot are tiptoeing into the space by selling NFTs—non-fungible tokens bought and sold on blockchain technology allowing people to own digital items like images or videos.

Brands like Sephora, Nike and HBO are also leaning into AR experiences.

For Nike’s Air Max Day they created an augmented reality experience for consumers to play and unlock discounts at Nike Factory Stores all across Europe in 183 locations and in 13 languages.

Finally, let's not forget Facebook changed it's name to Meta and is so enraptured that the social media giant intends to spend $10 billion to become a full metaverse company in the next five years, with immediate plans to hire 10,000 people in Europe to oversee what many predict will be a holding company under which Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus and others will exist.
